"RETROSPECTIVE 1959-2009"

On the fiftieth anniversary of his career as an artist, Valentin Kovatchev presents the exhibition “Retrospective 1959-2009” at the Museum of the Royal House of Money in Madrid, which describes his artistic trajectory, from as early as six years of age, in a magnificent collection that brings together one hundred and forty works including drawings, engravings, oil paintings and engraved matrix plates.

This retrospective offers a chance to closely inspect the major trends in his artistic development, and follow the gradual shaping of his peculiar plastic universe, which will use various surrealistic visual concepts and metaphysical painting art style as a historical springboard from which to weave his own intricate web of emotions and values.

Afterwards, the exhibition will be staged in the Cortijo Miraflores Museum in Marbella.

A magnificent bilingual Spanish-English catalogue has been published, featuring all works exhibited.

Parallel Activities:
–    Guided Tours in Spanish/English.
–  Audiovisual presentation “Valentín Kovatchev and the Art of Etching”, Spanish/English.
